Visually, the JEM7D borrows both from the JEM10th as well as from the JEM90HAM. It has the black finish and mirror pickguard of the JEM10TH, a look which would also be used for the JEM77V and JEM7EAFX. The JEM7D combines it with the structured body finish of the JEM90HAM and the screw head dot inlays of the JEM7 BSB. The JEM7D is the first JEM with the DiMarzio Breed pickups. It also features a thinner neck compared to other JEM guitars. It initially had the Lo-Pro Edge tremolo which was replaced by the Edge Pro in 2003.
