Astronomically, Rahu and Ketu denote the points of intersection of the paths of the Sun and the Moon as they move on the celestial sphere. Therefore, Rahu and Ketu are respectively called the north and the south lunar nodes. The fact that eclipses occur when the Sun and the Moon are at one of these points gives rise to the myth of the swallowing of the Sun and the Moon by the demon snake.

- King Rahu of the Mu Empire. The son of Great Emperor Kubilai and father of Shinkan Po. No details were given about him except he was killed along with his wife when Warrior Shaider came and destroyed the Mu Empire and sank it in to the Pacific Ocean.
- Rahu was a cruel Asura in Hindu myth. It ate the nectar of immortality and was subsequently beheaded by one of Vishnu's avatars. Rahu also appears in Buddhism within the Pali Canon as a being who attacked Chandra and Suriya before being compelled to release them. The Buddha responds by enjoining Rahu into releasing them. Rahu, or Rahula, is also the name of a demon in Tibetan Buddhism who was subjugated by Padmasambhava and became a protector of the Dzogchen teachings. In Tibet, he is called Gza.
- Rahu is a serpent-deity in Hindu tradition. In Hindu lore, Rahu is a severed head of an asura that swallows the sun causing eclipses.
- Rahu is a Hindu Asura. He is the son of Diti and was present when the gods churned the ocean for the nectar of immortality. Rahu stole some and drank it but had not fully digested it when he was killed by Vishnu. His head became the north lunar node whilst his body became Ketu, the south lunar node.
- Rahu are born under the full moon, which bestows those who undergo their First Change in its sign of mad fury. As Luna's face is filling, her spark of wrath reflects in the spirit landscape, making it a more dangerous place than it already is. Aggressive impulses are harder to overcome and Forsaken, who change under Luna's full face, are known for being vicious and unrelenting warriors. But this does not necessarily mark a true Rahu as a beserker, nor should he be dismissed as mindless. Some are inspiring leaders on the battlefield, others are talented and cunning tacticians.
