This galaxy had four major and two minor spiral arms. The outermost ones consisted of energetic blue-white stars, while yellow stars were more common in the interior. The north-eastern regions of the galaxy contained large molecular clouds, which made that region hazardous to navigate. For this reason, it was dubbed "Wilderness". Other nebulae included the Southern Nebulae, located near the Snub Arm. Known satellites included a number of globular clusters and four irregular galaxies. These companions were little more than collections of nebulae and star groups, without an organized structure.
