The Mistress of Shadows was an elven spellcaster within the Tomb of the Ancients in Dustwallow Marsh, the abode of the undead Lord Talendar. Unlike her host, the Mistress of Shadows nor her six Maidens of Shadows remained alive, and she studied within one of the Tomb's libraries. Despite the shadow and arcane powers at her command, she was slain by Rexxar and his companions during the events of the Founding of Durotar.

I ask you to enter this cave and to destroy this Mistress of Shadows. If she falls, then perhaps the others will leave Ram Dúath and return to whatever foul place in Angmar it is that spawned them. The Mistress of Shadows dwells in a cave on the east side of Ram Dúath, where the other merrevail can also be found. The Earth-kin scout has asked you to seek out and destroy the leader of the Merrevail for the safety of his people. He also suggested you take friends. 2. The Earthkin Scout is in the Duvaire on the west side of Ram Dúath. With the Mistress of Shadows slain, you should return to the Earthkin Scout.
