Beaker Street is a thoroughfare in Weatherfield that in 1973 was home to a run-down, seedy betting shop. Billy Walker had got into a gambling habit and spent part of the proceeds of the Rovers there, running down the pub's No.2 account at the bank to do so. Billy hoped not to be spotted in the shop, but typically he was seen by Hilda Ogden who took great delight in passing on the news to Annie Walker.
