Pentti Matikainen was a Finnish hockey player and coach. He was born on October 5, 1950, in Joensuu, Finland. He coached Finland's team at the 1988 Olympics to a silver medal, the country's first medal at the Olympics. He also coached the national team at the 1987 Canada Cup (bronze) and the 1992 World Championship (silver). In all he coached the team from 1987-93. Matikanen also coached in the SM-Liiga for many years.
