After calming down, Sandstorm notes that the shell they found belongs to a specific ammunition called the . Reverse engineered from the Firecons on Varas Centralus by the Decepticons, it enters the circulatory system and overloads the spark, burning its victims from the inside. Bumblebee soon arrives on the scene and, hearing Sandstorm's explanation, accuses the Firecons of causing all the recent trouble. Gathering together a team, both leaders decide to confront the Firecons. It turns for the worse when the Predacons ambush them, beginning a battle with the Dinobots. Bumblebee watches, powerless, as the Predacons are brutualized by the Dinobots. Bumblebee saves Razorclaw from Sandstorm's kill shot, who internally berates the team for acting rashly and betraying Autobot principles. The Predacons, beaten down, are imprisoned. Bumblebee meets the Dinobots near a statue of Optimus Prime. Bumblebee and Grimlock talk about the Dinobots' encounter with the Predacons at the bloody battle at Varas Centralus, leading to Bumblebee blankly accusing Grimlock of the murders, causing the latter to attack him. Thundercracker later contacts Bumblebee and reveals that there has been another murder; that of, and the Predacons are missing from their cells. Knowing that nobody would stand for dead Autobots, Starscream calls for a raze of the Decepticon ghetto, but Barricade, sick of selling out his people, refuses the order. After receiving an unexpected commendation from Optimus Prime, Barricade goes right to investigating, noting the escape route: a large access duct that leads to the statue of Optimus. But the discussing leads to another fight between Bumblebee and Grimlock, with the former revealing that he remembers all too well what the Dinobots did at Varas Centralus and that they were no better than the Decepticons then. He accuses the Dinobots of being the worst of what Cybertron has to offer, refusing to adapt to the new peace. Bumblebee leaves, calling Grimlock a monster. Grimlock, angered the Optimus Prime statue, which he summarily decapitates. Slug threatens to kill Optimus and drags the other Dinobots into following him, just as they are attacked by the freed Predacons. Grimlock critically injures Razorclaw and the dying Predacon taunts Grimlock with the knowledge that he is no better than he is, before Grimlock finishes him off. The other Predacons retreat and Grimlock then realises that the Predacons were not operating alone; they had to be working with someone else. The killer is revealed... as Sandstorm! Gone off the deep end, Sandstorm shoots the Autobots with an infernus bullet. Grimock rips the bullet out of his body and restrains Sandstorm, ripping his arm off in the process. Sandstorm tells his side: he had seen too much, too terrible, to allow others to go unpunished for their crimes during the war. All of the Cybertronians he had killed or attempted to kill had all committed unspeakable acts and had to be killed in the name of justice, hiring the Predacons as assassins to avoid suspicion being drawn to him. After asking whether Grimlock manages knowing his atrocities and what he did, Sandstorm tries to flee, but Grimlock simply shoots him dead and answers that he tries to stay "grounded". Grimlock, injured, goes off into the wilderness, Bumblebee's words still having an impact. Bumblebee monologues that he was honest about his calling out of the Dinobots, believing that bots like them who refuse to change are the greatest threat to the future; but still, he has faith that the future can be a peaceful one. Meanwhile, the injured Grimlock looks at the battle scene and limps off in shame, Bumblebee's words still having an impact.
