- Paul Patton, The Daily Globe staff photographer, and reporter Ruth Ransom head to West Virginia to get the scoop on the notorious Night Riders gang. When they get off the train, Ruth leaves in a taxi for the hotel, and Paul is kidnapped by the hoods and taken to a lonely country road. After whipping Paul, they leave him unconscious in the woods. The next morning, he wakes up and climbs aboard a New York-bound freight train. When he stumbles into the office, his editor shouts at him to head back and take some photos for the paper. That night, while sulking, he hits on an idea on how he can "out fox" other reporters by designing a costume where he can hide his "Syncro-Flash Automatic Camera." He drives back to West Virginia to confront the Night Riders, again. Now dressed as the Fox, he goes back to the lonely road and finds Ruth Ransom and a sheriff being tied up and ready to be whipped by the gang. He leaps into action and the thugs stand paralyzed as the Fox's camera clicks away. He grabs Ruth, and the ringleader, and takes them downtown. There, the townspeople round up a posse and go after the other gang members. Later in the office, Paul brings in his pictures for the late night edition.
