Malcolm The Mean is a character who appeared in the cartoon show episode "The Noble Stag". abstract	Malcolm The Mean is a character who appeared in the cartoon show episode "The Noble Stag". He is a hunter who is the second cousin of King Gerard, and who held a magic amulet that turned his cousin into a black stag so that he could hunt after and kill it so that he could take Gerard's place as king. He kept the king's elderly maidservant Mrs. Sourberry in the dark about the king's whereabouts so as not to arouse suspicions. In the episode, the Smurfs have first seen Malcolm when he was chasing after the stag, not knowing anything about who the stag actually was or where he came from. In that encounter, Harmony was accidentally taken to King Gerard's castle and brought to Malcolm's private chambers, where he learned what he had done to the king. With the help of Clockwork Smurf, Papa Smurf, Harmony, Hefty, and Jokey got the amulet away from Malcolm and back to the village, where Papa Smurf found a reversing spell to turn the stag back to King Gerard. The spell also turned Malcolm into a black stag, who was now chased after by his fellow hunters, though King Gerard commanded the hunters that the stag is to be captured alive. His later fate is unknown, although King Gerard assures Papa Smurf he intends to have Malcolm returned to his human state when he is certain his cousin has learned his lesson.
