David Cunliffe (born 18th April 1935) was a director on Coronation Street in the 1960s with 8 episodes to his credit from October 1966 to August 1967. A former RADA-trained actor, he worked in repertory theatre before moving to directing in his mid-twenties. He also directed episodes of Dr. Finlay's Casebook, The Man in Room 17, Warship, Fall of Eagles, Hadleigh, Raffles and The Onedin Line, and became Executive Producer on Flambards, ITV Playhouse and The Beiderbecke Affair. In 1988 he was nominated for an Emmy for his work on the television movie The Attic: The Hiding of Anne Frank.
