Corporal Thane Polstaff was a Gear who served extensively during the Locust War. Noted for his extremely pessimistic demeanor, Polstaff saw himself being the sole survivor of his unit twice during the war: once in 5 A.E. after the Fall of Turin, and again in 11 A.E. after the Battle of Hoygarden. He eventually ended up in squad Golf-Fourteen of platoon Charlie-142, under the command of Lieutenant Colin Davis, where he stayed until his retirement from the COG military in 18 A.E.
