  • Soulcalibur is the sequel of the Playstation game Soul Edge by Namco. Soulcalibur was ported and released for the Sega Dreamcast with improved graphics and new features and became one of the best-selling Dreamcast titles overall. The Dreamcast version of Soulcalibur is often cited as one of the greatest fighting games of all time and as an example of a home conversion of a game being vastly superior to the original. Among the differences were the improved graphics (the DC version often being cited as the prettiest game of all time upon its release), tweaked gameplay, new game modes, new costumes, and the inclusion of an extra character Cervantes de Leon. It was released in Japan in August 5, 1999; and in North America as a launch title, in September 9, 1999.
!!! • Soulcalibur (ソウルキャリバー Souru Kyaribā?) is the second game in the Soul series of fighting games developed and produced by Namco. Soulcalibur was ported to and released for the Sega Dreamcast in 1999 with improved graphics and new features, and became one of the best-selling Dreamcast titles of all time. The Sega Dreamcast port is often cited as one of the greatest fighting games of all time, and even one of the greatest games across all genres; it is ranked as the fifth-best game of all-time by review aggregator site Game Rankings. Following the first game Soul Edge in 1995, the Soul series received a major makeover and was retitled Soulcalibur in 1998. Hence, Soulcalibur can also refer to the series consisting of Soulcalibur and its subsequent sequels.

  • Depuis des lustres (plus ou moins) Une épée maléfiqueuh du nom de Soul Edge (tout le monde arrive à suivre, c’est bon ?) sillonne le monde pour étancher sa soif d’âmes humaines en se servant d’un porteur, généralement doué en couture, pour pouvoir se déplacer et arriver à ses fins. Ledit porteur voit son esprit manipulé par l’épée qui le forcera à tuer le plus de personnes afin qu’elle puisse récupérer leur âmes dont elle se nourrit et tire sa force (la vilaine). L’épée traversa les époques en passant son gros manche de mains en mains (Hu hu hu !) de porteurs quand ceux-ci atteignaient leur date de péremption. !!! ATTENTION, C’EST LA QUE CA DEVIENT PALPITANT (au possible) !!! Cependant, aux alentours du 16ème siècle après Jean-Claude, une autre épée (Oh là là !), SoulCalibur, gentille celle-là, décide de sortir de l’ombre et de péter sa gueule à l’autre suceuse (d’âme) parce que quand même!’ Faut pas déconner ! (à ceux qui poserai la question : « mais pourquoi SoulCalibur bouge son cul qu’à partir du 16ème siècle alors que Soul Edge profite de son buffet depuis des millénaires ? » je réponds : « va dans ta chambre, tu m’énerves… ») À partir de là, toute une flopée de personnages au charisme ambigüe et à la crédibilité discutable vont passer de nombreux opus à se molester parmi. Soit pour récupérer une des épées, soit l’autre, soit les deux, soit pour montrer qu’ils en ont (de la volonté), soit parce qu’ils avaient rien de mieux à faire de leur après-midi, où soit parce qu’ils n’ont toujours pas digéré que Familles de France ait pourri de censures castratrices leur mangas préférés à la télé étant petits et qu’ils doivent passer leurs nerfs sur quelque chose régulièrement depuis. Voilà, maintenant que l’idée générale est connue de tous, on va passer en détails l’armée de joyeux drilles que sont ;

According to a timeline released by Namco on their "Soul Archive" site, Soulcalibur takes place around 1587.
