In 2006 he participated in Cyclo-cross Nationals in Providence, RI,and won Knoxicross a few weeks after nationals in 2007. As a USAC official he has refereed hundreds of races and has served as chief referee on more than 20 occasions, and is a USAC certified coach. As an event organizer, he has organized many road and cross events, and is the organizer of Tennessee's largest cyclo-cross series, Mud, Sweat, and Gears. He is also the organizer of the only international race in Tennessee, the Kingsport Cyclo-cross Cup. As a long time board member of the Tri Cities Road Club he has helped guide the growth of bicycle racing in upper east Tennessee. TCRC is one of the oldest cycling clubs in the country and has been organizing the Roan Groan Road Race for 28 years. In 2010, Letterman helped organize TCRC's Junior Cyclo-cross Team.
