The instructions read: * 6 - South * 8 - East * 2 - North * 4 - East * 22 - South To obtain this item, players must have a spade in their inventory. • Happily this afternoon, Along the beach I waddle, Looking at the sand, I spy an old, forgotten bottle. I scoop it up, and look at it, My eyes go big and wide, For heavens yes, there seems to be, A treasure map inside. Somewhere at the tail-end, Of this twisty dotted line, A chest of gold awaits, And soon it's going to be mine. I buy a sturdy shovel, Since the treasure will be deep, I buy expensive boots, Because my old ones are too cheap. I buy a fancy compass, And a treasure hunting cap, And off I set into the forest, Eyes upon my map. (Pirates are assholes.)
    • Image:Map.gif Treasure Maps show the location of where a Treasure Chest is buried. The maps require Cartography skill to decode at which point it will no longer say it is tattered but will become Blessed and display the location of the buried treasure chest. They can be obtained from various creatures as listed on: Treasure Map Spawn. A map may decoded by another person, but the person digging up the map must still have the minimum required Cartography skill for the level of treasure map. Mining skill helps, as high skill allows you to dig for the chest without being more than a tile away.
    • When read, a picture appears of a small section of the world map, and one tile is circled. If you travel to this tile and dig (D key, then press 5 on the numpad to dig underneath you) you will be rewarded with gold, platinum coins, potentially rare items, and medals, at least some of the time. Dungeons, towns, and buildings like Your Home, will not appear on Treasure Maps--you will instead see the tile under the dungeon/town/building as if it were not there. NOTE: You must dig on the correct tile while on the world map, NOT while "inside" the tile on the local map.
