Silver Convention was a German disco group from the 70 's. The Group was founded in Munich by producers and songwriters Sylvester Levay and Michael Kunze. Silver was the nickname of Sylvester. Originally named Silver Bird or Silver Bird Convention, they scored a Top 30 hit in the UK in 1975 and after a name change they had two major hit singles on the US and Canadian charts. Between 1975 and 1979 they released five studio albums and 14 singles. They represented their homeland in the 1977 Contest in London, finishing in eighth place. They were arguably the most established entrants that year thanks to their major chart success throughout Europe, the US and Canada. Post break up, band member Rhonda Heath returned to the Eurovision stage in 1994 in Dublin, providing backing vocals and keyboards for the German entry Wir geben 'ne Party performed by girl group Mekado, which finished in third place.

Thompson (Linda Übelherr), Penny McLean (Gertrude Wirshinger) and Ramona Wulf (Ramona Kraft) were adopted. Silver Convention scored two big hits in the United States; Fly, Robin, Fly, the text of which only 6 words existed, was 3 weeks on 1 in 1975 and won the Grammy Award for best R & B instrumental performance. Get up and boogie was the successor three weeks at 2 in 1976. The ladies at the same time also released solo work. McLean had a hit with Lady Bump and Thompson with Ooh what a night.
