Only the vehicle's vulcan cannons are used when it attacks - as a special, Marco slings a number of pipe bombs from the hatch instead of firing the main turret (either five or ten, depending on whether File:MSA Skill small +.png 3 is unlocked). With File:MSA Skill small +.png 4 unlocked, Marco can also evade by leaping from the top of the hatch and then re-entering the vehicle (in a possible nod to earlier games in the main series, where players could remain permanently invulnerable by continuously exiting and then re-entering a Slug). Although the skill description states that he'll perform his special attack while doing so, he instead only lobs two pipe bombs. Marco seems to lack Alice's driving skills, and cannot attack aerial units nor back himself away from the front line (though he does share the exact same set of equip items). If his Type-R is destroyed he'll blow up along with it, without having it launch a suicide attack. When Marco's Type-R is placed in the same deck as the Drill Slug Ver.2, they form the "Lethal Weapon" team. This lowers their AP costs by 10%.
