The 2005 Checker Auto Parts 500 was a Nextel Cup event held at Phoenix International Raceway on November 13, 2005. Kyle Busch emerged out of a late three-car duel with the lead and pulled away to his second and final victory of the year. Busch's brother, Kurt Busch, was pulled from his #97 Roush Racing Ford on Sunday morning after a Friday traffic stop left Busch with minor disorder conduct. Kenny Wallace replaced him and finished 16th while points leader Tony Stewart finished 4th. With one race to go, Stewart held a fifty-two point championship lead on Jimmie Johnson (7th). Stats
