| - The following is a brief, most certainly incomplete, dictionary of phrases that are specific to Vollistan culture. tweedemoeder - 'twee-eh-dem-oh-eh-der'. Secondary mother; a mother who is not the birth-mother, but is related and involved in the raising of the child. Usually Bonded to the birth-mother or -father. teteceramadre - 'teh-teh-ceh-ram-ad-reh'. Tertiary mother; a mother who is neither the birth-mother or tweedemoeder, but is involved in the raising of the child nonetheless. Usually Bonded to the birth-mother or -father, generally after the tweedemoeder was Bonded. segandopedre - 'seh-gan-do-pehd-reh'. Secondary father; a father who is not the birth-father, but is related and involved in the raising of the child. Usually Bonded to the birth-mother or -father. tetecerpedre - 'teh-teh-cehr-pehd-reh'. Tertiary father; a father who is not the birth-father, but is related and involved in the raising of the child. Usually Bonded to the birth-mother or -father, generally after the segandopedre was Bonded. Bonded/Joined - Vollistan equivilant of marriage. Unlike human-style marriages, Bondings can - and have - included several individuals; there is no known upper limit, although most Bonded groups seem to draw the limit at five or six. Bonding - The act of beoming Bonded with another individual. Bonding parties are often quite rowdy affairs, with the Bonded couple (or trio, or group) being given advice, encouragement, and lots'n'lots of stimulants. Quite often, Stonebright and Seaglow are used. Volir's Light - traditional greeting. Volir's dark/Volir endarken you - one of the most potent curses in a Vollistan's vocabulary. Basically, it means 'God damn you'. Rarely used.
