Description
| - Based on characters from the film of the same name, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a television series which aired from 1997-2003. It featured the exploits of Buffy Summers and her group of friends as they protected the Hellmouth from various vampires and demons.
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a 1992 comedy film about a "Valley Girl" cheerleader chosen by fate to fight and kill vampires. The film is a light parody which plays on the clichés of typical horror movies. The film also led to a much more popular TV series of the same name, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, which was created and executive produced by screenwriter Joss Whedon. Whedon often detailed how the TV series was a much closer rendering of his vision than the movie, which was compromised by commercial concerns and differences in interpretation. Though the film is now considered a relatively minor chapter in the broader Buffy legacy, it was moderately successful and generally well received at the time of its release.
- Based on characters from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer film and TV series, Angel was a spin-off from the American television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, however Angel has a darker tone than Buffy. The series details the ongoing trials of the vampire Angel, who has his human soul restored to him as a punishment after more than a century of murder and torture of innocents, leaving him tormented by guilt and remorse. During the first four seasons of the show, he works as a private detective in a fictionalized version of Los Angeles, where he and a variety of associates work to "help the helpless" and to restore the faith and "save the souls" of those who had lost their way. Typically, this involved doing battle with evil demons or demonically-allied humans as well as battling his own violent nature. In a departure to this the fifth season saw Angel taking over as the head of the law firm Wolfram and Hart in an attempt to fight evil from the inside.
