Deitism was the name given to a body of philosophical schools of thought that arose in the formative centuries of the Jedi Order. Deitists aimed to investigate and explore the implications of the Force having a will of its own. Dozens of branches of the movement developed, presenting a wide variety of viewpoints on how sentient the Force was and where the people of the galaxy stood in relation to it. Some Deitist movements argued that its interest in mundane affairs was minimal and that it had no conception of ethics as mortal beings understood it. Others claimed that it was interested in the affairs of lesser beings and that Force visions were one way that it revealed its will to them. • Deitism is a universal religion, officially created on and based around the Day of all Truths. Adherents to Deitism are known by no name, as it has been commonly accepted that all living intellectual beings are part of the religion. The deity stated that over the millennia, beings have fought, debated excessively, and eventually destroyed their religions. Ten commandments were seemingly too much. The three commandments, which are central to Deitism, are as follows: * Believe in the Deity; * Love the Deity; * Strive toward a commonly accepted Greater Good. This day became known as the Day of all Truths. Even tough the "greater good" the deity mentioned is still debated today, and because of each being's individual perception of morality, it has been widely accepted that what the majority of beings believes to be good, is good. It has been further divided among the major being races; the Humans, the Pandorans and the Almedii. Although most race governments remain secular, many have after the Day of all Truths accepted Deitism as their state religion, and persecute those who do not follow the three commandments. The United Earth Federation, however, is secular, but non-believers are widely frowned upon and excluded from many facilities and activities. An estimated 0.00001% of the human population are non-believers, and widely belong to the Church of the Old (which consists of Christian fundamentalists), the Islamic Coalition (which consists of Islamic fundamentalists) and the Atheist Hierarchy (which consists of beings who do not believe in any high power).

Others claimed that it was interested in the affairs of lesser beings and that Force visions were one way that it revealed its will to them. Some went so far as to conclude that if the Force had a will, then as the most powerful and pervasive thing in the universe it was therefore a god, ought to be worshiped, and/or was responsible for the creation of the universe. As the Jedi Order refined itself doctrinally and organizationally, the beliefs of its members became more uniform. While Deitist lines of thought persisted in many forms for centuries , it endured constant criticism from the majority of Jedi scholars, who maintained that the Force was an energy field sustained by the existence of life, rather than a supreme being or life form that was above all others. Many of them also argued that Force visions reflected not the agency of a separate cosmic consciousness, but of the metaphysical interconnection of all consciousnesses, which was accessed by Force-sensitives. Deitism as a sizable group of related belief systems disappeared well before the First Great Schism, but its major adherents and their philosophies remained subjects of interest to scholars and historians. By the time of the Mandalorian Wars, Jedi Lore Keepers theorized that the Unifying Force viewpoint was a Deitist school of thought that had been modified by orthodox Jedi influence.
