  • Gambler (Japanese: ギャンブラー Gambler) is a Trainer Class introduced in Generation I that initially appeared as old men with a cup and dice. In later games, they appear as much younger men wearing red trench coats along with a hat and flipping a coin in their right hand. Their names have changed several times over the course of the series, sometimes to Gamer and also as PI in the English releases of the Generation IV games. They mostly use Normal and/or Fire-type Pokémon.
  • They haunt coaching inns and game houses, ready to part the gullible from their coins. Sometimes things go wrong and gamblers lose large sums of money. • Whether it is lady luck, fate or an ace up the sleeve, Gamblers have both an addiction and a talent for wagers and games of chance. Knowing when to hold them and when to fold them is just one of the many talents a gambler has, which often includes knowing where to find trouble and the odds of getting out of it alive. SPECIALIST: This is a specialist class, and may only be taken when you have proven that you are a card shark at more than just "Go Fish".
  • Players can not bet against the gamblers, only against another player. The gamblers, however, are willing to explain how the Rat Pits works and which type of cat the specific Rat Pits requires.
  • You can ask him to make you a drink, but what he'll really make you is a sloppy mess of a mixture of like 5 different uncomplimentary liquids. Gambler is a crew member (still), and was higher ranked than Kage, having been the First Mate before Kage took the job. When Celeste asked Kage about him, Kage said that he and Gambler used to be close and to 'cut him a break'. (Like everyone else, Gambler is/was gay for Kage.) Gambler is often present during punishments personally administered by Captain Redd, and Dr. Mann's Buddy Time.
