The first day of the test, was, unsurprisingly lacking in action and only a total of 91 laps were completed, nearly ten seconds slower than the times recorded last year. The fastest driver on the first day was Kimi Räikkönen, driving for Ferrari, who also completed over one-third of the days laps. Mercedes driver, Lewis Hamilton, had an accident in the morning after a front wing failure, and Mercedes completed no more laps on the day.
