- The Precursors are the beings that roamed the galaxy thousands of years before the younger civilizations had left their homeworlds. The main precursors (that are known) are the Arnor and the Dread Lords. The Arnor and Dread Lords were created by the Mithrilar to populate the Universe which they had just made. In their creation the Mithrilar decided create a fundamental difference between the Arnor and the Dread Lords, the main difference being that the Arnor understood time and the Dread Lords perceived it.

Depending on how distant in the past precursors have to be to be considered as such, Earth IV existed a civilization at war with Aliens. Again, these were no seperate species, but rather a civilization of baseline humans. Earth V conflates the concept with Reptilians. Though the term is not applied to civilizations after the Tribulation, the process of "Precursor-dom" appears to continue in some or all inhabited worlds, but is only explored in Random Kingdom VX2, where the realization of the damning prospect for their own civilization drives the Citadel to its attempt to secure its reign by means of the Iron Giant.
