  • The V-19 Gauss Sub machine Gun or as it was officially known the V-19 Gauss Individual Combat System (GICS) was a slugthrower style weapon used by the Echani Protectors. The weapon utilized an Asynchronous Linear-Induction motor to produce a bipolar magnetic field capable of launching a 5mm x 23 projectile at hyper-sonic velocities. The great velocity of the projectile is the key to the stopping power and performance of the V-19. The shortness of the barrel gave the weapon a relatively low muzzle velocity (in comparison to other weapons of the type). The rounds left the weapon at just inside the hypervelocity window. Another characteristic attributing to this was the rounds shape. Most slugs were pointed for aerodynamics however the 5mm projectiles of the V-19 were cube shaped. This design was used to prevent over penetration at the close ranges the weapon was meant to be used. On 9mpact the rounds mushroomed or were vaporized due to the high velocity impacts.
