Fellow Fanoneers, I’m really excited to announce the next chapter for the community of this wiki. As you know, I’ve spoken at great length about the future of Star Wars Fanon and how important is it to foster the community spirit in a thriving and social atmosphere. Only by doing so can we have a community of fan fiction writers and fan fiction fans who want to give critical feedback and positive reinforcement to our writers. One thing I have said, though, is that we should not expect to have the same kind of community as Wookieepedia. I take that back.

As you know, I’ve spoken at great length about the future of Star Wars Fanon and how important is it to foster the community spirit in a thriving and social atmosphere. Only by doing so can we have a community of fan fiction writers and fan fiction fans who want to give critical feedback and positive reinforcement to our writers. One thing I have said, though, is that we should not expect to have the same kind of community as Wookieepedia. I take that back. After reaching an agreement with the Wookieepedian administrators, I on behalf of Goodwood, TK-999, and Trak Nar am excited to announce that Star Wars Fanon is officially merging with Wookieepedia, the Star Wars wiki. The details of how fanon and fan fiction will fit into Wookieepedia are still being worked out, but the new and improved Wookieepedia will be the host of both major types of Star Wars fandom here on Wikia: canon documentation and fan creation. Now, I know that this is a big step, and it may seem controversial. However, I believe it is in the best interest of Star Wars Fanon and Wookieepedia to have one, all-encompassing wiki—just as we could have and should have been when Star Wars Fanon was founded by Neomessiah, who was one of many Wookieepedians upset about the fact that fanon could not be posted there. This is especially true in light of the recent announcement by Lucasfilm that Wookieepedia will now be the primary canon database for the Star Wars franchise, as announced here. This is the next step that Star Wars Fanon needs if we’re going to grow. We won’t be Star Wars Fanon anymore, but we’ll still be fanon and fan fiction writers and we’ll be on one of the largest and most popular Star Wars fan sites on the web. That’s even truer given that our merger with Wookieepedia will put the Wookieepedian article count at over 100,000. All users with user rights here will retain those rights on Wookieepedia, as of now, provided that you’re consistently active. That means that Goodwood (who will be unbanned), TK-999, and I will all be Wookieepedia admins (Trak Nar already is a Wookieepedia admin). Those with rollback rights will also retain those, and the Council of Seers will either be retained as a fanon/fan fiction FA and GA board or it will all be merged into the Inquisitors. This still won’t happen for a few days, because there are more details to be worked out, but we are definitely interested in hearing your ideas for how we can best transition over to Wookieepedia.
