abstract
| - The Valley of the Enlightened is the geographic area that contains the Valley of Enlightenment. Many pedantic scholars insist that the popular use of "Enlightened" for the physical feature, and "Enlightenment" for the political/scholarly one, reverses the meanings of the two terms and is incorrect. Popular use has won this argument, as it does most. In actual use, however, most people (including the scholars) do not make the distinction - the two terms are mostly synomynous. The physcial features of the Valley of the Enlightened are:
* The Grove of Enlightenment, the deep center of the Valley
* The Pastures of Dedication, the deep north center of the Valley
* The Vale of the Dragon's Claws, the hills immediately past the Gate of Truth
* The Hills of Solitude, the southern half of the western hills of the Valley
* The Gate of Truth, the pass into the Valley
* The Fields of the Dragon's Flames, the deep south center of the Valley
* The Shaped Hills, the northeastern hills of the Valley
* The Friendly Dales, the eastern hills from the Gate of Truth to half-way up the Valley
* The Heights, the low mountains to the north of the Valley
* The Dales of the Changed, the hills to the west of the Valley
* The Travelling Foothils, the hills immediately below the Heights It is worth noting that the Valley is quite large, comfortably containing all the people of the 11 societies.
