- Jochen Hecht (b. 21 June 1977 in Mannheim, West Germany) is a fromer professional centre of the National Hockey League who played for the Buffalo Sabres, St Louis Blues and the Edmonton Oilers One of the very few Germans to skate in the NHL, Hecht was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the second round of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, 49th overall, from the Adler Mannheim of the Deutsch Eishockey Liga. Upon being drafted, Hecht played three more seasons in the DEL before finally crossing the Atlantic to wear the American Hockey League's Worcester IceCats's uniform, the Blues' AHL affiliates. After two full seasons with St. Louis, Hecht is traded to the Edmonton Oilers with Marty Reasoner and Jan Horacek for Doug Weight. The same year, he joins the German National Team for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. His stay with the Oilers was short-lived though, as he was traded during the summer of 2003 to the Sabres in return of a pair of draft picks, which Edmonton used to select Jarret Stoll and Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers.
