Tarchrot is a fairly common plant, the leaves of which are poisonous when ingested. However, its extremely bitter flavor and relatively weak poisonous properties makes tarchrot leaf a poor choice for dramatic murder: the victim would detect it in the food and refuse to consume the serving. Alternatively, if administered gradually over the course of time, the victim would die what would appear to be a natural death. The poisonous herb is sometimes used as a humane method of putting a dog down.
