| - Little is known of Esvan Zahir - probably because he's still rather young to have made much of a mark upon the realm. Born in the year 613 to Olam and Eilenn Zahir, Esvan led a fairly peaceful and unremarkable life for the first fourteen years. His nearest landed kin being at Darkwater Castle, he grew up along the riverbanks and among the riverboats, hunting in the woods along the shores. Displaying a keen mind only when the subject happened to interest him, his education was haphazard at best, and on the whole he seemed more devoted to outdoor pursuits despite the best efforts of his parents - holders only of a few manor houses around Zahir territory - to convince him to learn the devious tricks required to survive adult life in his House. All this changed in the year 627. Undergoing a drastic personality shift, Esvan started taking his life and his education a great deal more seriously, and expressed interest in seeking out a teacher or advisor in matters of the Light. After several months of wrangling with his family, he was assigned a personal guard (and guide) in Thomas Darksteed and 'turned loose' as it were, for in the wake of the Church's fall the family had no idea where to send the boy for education in such things - and certainly had no desire to seek out any remnants of it for such a purpose. Esvan did what he could to try and learn, but although he got somewhat wiser in the ways of the world at large, he has had no luck in finding a teacher as such. He returned home now and again for a few weeks at a stretch, to rest and be with family, and then he would be off again with his guard. This unusual arrangement came to an end in 628. While taking a carriage ride with his parents, the family was beset by bandits and the carriage, in trying to get away, was overturned. Esvan was rendered unconscious and badly bruised, his left arm broken; his parents, however, were killed. Esvan was sent initially to Darkwater, but on finding the master of the Castle to be Elsewhere, more or less drifted to Eventide - where he's been known to stay until the urge to go elsewhere takes him.
