Thomas John Goodway (1870 - 1947) was a postman and local politician. He was the son of John Goodway, a park constable and Chelsea pensioner and his wife Harriet Jane and was born in the Brompton area of Chelsea. By 1881 his parents were living in Bethnal Green. He became a postman and in 1895 he married Delilah Cutts in South Hackney and by 1901 he was living in the Bromley area of Poplar. Mayor of Poplar 1926-27. Labour Party member of the London County Council for Poplar, Bow and Bromley, elected unopposed 16 February 1939, following the death of Dr Edward Cruse, in office till 1946.
