  • Sonic Triple Trouble is a 1994 video game released for the Sega Game Gear. The game, Sonic's fourth platforming outing for the handheld console, is largely similar to the plot of Sonic 3 & Knuckles, with Doctor Robotnik convincing Knuckles the Echidna that Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails are after the Chaos Emeralds. One new addition is bounty hunter Nack the Weasel (or Fang the Sniper) who protects the Emeralds in this game's Special Stages. Triple Trouble did not receive a proper adaptation within the pages of Sonic the Comic. The closest they came was to include Nack as part of the Chaotix Crew since the game was released at a similar time to Knuckles' Chaotix. In Issue 43, Triple Trouble was awarded 87% by David Gibbon, stating that the gameplay is "somewhat style", despite claiming there are "many new challenges".
  • Dr. Robotnik is boasting to Crabmeat about the Chaos Emerald he has acquired and how he plans to use its power to pollute the planet in mere days. Crabmeat informs his master that he accidentally set the power inducer draining the emerald incorrectly, causing a massive explosion which splits the emerald in half and flings both pieces to opposite sides of Mobius. Robotnik calls for a bounty hunter on his cellphone to retrieve the two emerald shards. Meanwhile, Tails finds Sonic in the Knothole kitchen and tells him that Rotor needs to talk to them about something he found. Sonic says he thought Rotor was working on a submarine, but Tails says what they found is way more important. The three of them observe a massive energy source coming their way and realize it must be a Chaos Emerald. They get a video feed of the emerald just as it crashes in the Great Forest. Suddenly, they see a strange series of images floating in a void. It turns out that the emerald's magic is allowing them to see the creation of a new Zone. Before Rotor can decide what they can do about it, Sonic impatiently runs off to retrieve the emerald shard. A shadowy figure watches him speed by, vowing to chase after him, even if it means going to another world. On the Floating Island, Knuckles is sunbathing. The warm sunlight suddenly turns green, startling him. He soon realizes that it was just a "green meteor" flying past the sun and watches it fall into the Dragon Spine Mountain Range, landing on the face of Mt. Osohai, the hardest mountain to climb on Angel Island. Knuckles decides to glide over to the mountain and investigate the "meteor". He soon realizes it's actually a Chaos Emerald and that it's burrowing its way into the mountain. A rockslide knocks Knuckles unconscious as he falls off the mountain. Tttriple Tttrouble Part Two: "Zone Sweet Zone!" Sonic speeds into the entrance of the Zone entrance, named "Triple Trouble", created by the emerald shard while the shadowy figure follows him in a sky cycle programmed to mimic Sonic's moves. Sonic runs through several zones and finds the emerald half at the end. He realizes it's not complete and realizes that its broken state was probably the cause of the weird zones he just traveled through. As he grabs it, he's shot by a neural disruptor, knocking him out. It turns out that the shadowy figure following him was the bounty hunter, Nack the Weasel. Tttriple Tttrouble Part Three: "Echidnapped!" Nack contacts Robotnik, having tied the dazed Sonic to a rock. Robotnik asks Nack to bring Sonic with him when he retrieves the other half of the emerald, and Nack agrees under the condition that he gets double the pay. Meanwhile, Knuckles wakes up in a cave, surrounded by the Ancient Walkers. Knuckles is terrified at first, but the Walkers use cave paintings to explain the situation to Knuckles. Knuckles interprets from their drawings that the halved emerald is burrowing into the Floating Island to rejoin with the emerald keeping the island aloft in the Chaos Chamber, but that a fusion of one and a half emeralds would cause a massive explosion that would destroy the island. Determined to stop this, Knuckles demands that the Walkers send him back. He wakes up on the island just as Nack arrives. He jumps out of the bushes and decks Nack, causing the sky cycle to fall into the lake with Sonic still on board. Sonic wakes up just in time to spindash out of his ropes and back up to the surface. Tttriple Tttrouble Part Four: "Blue Blur vs. Rough & Red!" Sonic jumps out of the river and attacks Knuckles. They start to scuffle until they hear Robotnik's voice coming from Nack's wristwatch. They notice the Robotnik hologram trying to contact Nack, so Sonic and Knuckles pick him up and use him as a puppet. Robotnik reveals that Nack has the other half of the Chaos Emerald before hanging up. Sonic and Knuckles grab Nack's half of the emerald and hurry to the Chaos Chamber. They find the other emerald shard advancing though the wall. The duo put the broken emerald halves together, causing an explosion of green fire. They are teleported back to the surface of the Floating Island, unsure of where the newly reformed emerald went. They tie Nack up, and Sonic flies home on Nack's hovercraft. Sonic and Knuckles part on uncertain terms, suspecting the other of snatching the emerald. Meanwhile, somewhere far away, the emerald returns to the Ancient Walkers.
