The Xoret Cluster was a grouping of more than a million old, metal-poor stars in the Intergalactic Void. Originating from one of the Companions, the cluster sat still in the gravitational tug-of-war of the AG-12 and the galaxy. It contained several inhabitable systems and had at least one native sentient species, the Lefans, who hailed from the planet Lef deep in the core of the cluster and evolved in an isolated, undisturbed status into a formidable, warlike race, beginning a campaign of conquest against the other core planets by using a mixture of biotechnology and artificial inventions. This bloody crusade lasted from 4,000 BBY to 3,950 BBY and resulted in a pyrrhic Lefan victory, with the Lefan Imperium becoming the dominant government in the cluster. The remnants of the defeated races

  • The Xoret Cluster was a grouping of more than a million old, metal-poor stars in the Intergalactic Void. The remnants of the defeated races fled to the nebulae forming Xoret's halo and created scattered settlements lacking the strength for a counter-attack. Following the acquisition of the majority of the cluster, the Imperium settled some outer planets but generally remained behind its natural borders defined by a wall of planetary nebulae ("The Wall"), which were formed from 15,000 BBY to 2,200 BBY by the aging red giant stars at the edge of the core. The outlying location of the cluster meant absolutely no disturbance until 8 ABY, when the Confederation of Non-Aligned planets finished charting the AG Intergalactic Route connecting the AG-12 and the galaxy. CNAP scouts colonized the planet Gakt V at the edge of the cluster and began to delve into the deeper regions. The Imperium's government, fearing a possible alliance between the refugees purged from the core and the Confederation decided to attack and pushed the Confederate forces back to Gakt. After a long, bloody CNAP operation which saw Imperium forces slowly retreat towards their periphery of nebulae, where the pursuing Confederate forces could not follow them, as the few hyperroutes through these planetary clouds were hazardous and hard to navigate, so a truce was signed in 10 ABY to finally end the conflict. After the peace with the CNAP, the Lefan Imperium began to break out from its isolation. Commerce between Confederate corporations and the Imperium was limited at first, but after the Lefan government realized the CNAP's thirst for raw materials, a profitable trade began with the CNAP providing the Lefans with technology and other products in exchange for minerals and Tibanna gas.
