Its design included a layout that was very uncommon for the time. The crew sat at front, with the troops directly behind them, followed by the two 90 hp (67 kW) engines in the rear. This layout gave the BTR its own advantages over the normal layout of having the engine in front, but it also created its own problems as well. It is equipped with a 14.5mm KPVT heavy machine gun for light armor engagement and a PKT co-axial 7.62mm machine gun to support the troops it carries. The BTR-60 has only been featured in Battlefield Vietnam and is used by the North Vietnamese Army and Viet Cong.
