- He is an experimental creature that was accidentaly created by the creator of the Journals. Dipper and Wendy thought they saw the creator of the Journals, but they suddenly realize that it was actually the Shapeshifter who got a hold of the Journal so he can transform into several different creatures to take over Gravity Falls but is foiled when Dipper figures out the fake Wendy from the real Wendy thus shoving the Shapeshifter back into the containment chamber and he resumes his last form as Dipper before he freezes.
- "The Shapeshifter" was first seen impersonating Jack Calwin, attempting thus to undermine the Organisation. He also impersonated Dani Millbrook to the same purpose, and used this disguise to capture and kill Nathan Petrelli, at the time as one of the leaders of the Organisation. He was working with Becky Taylor and they were attempting to gain a device which would be capable of eliminating evolved humans. The Organisation attempted to capture him several times, but were foiled as he kept switching into different disguises, and gaining powerful abilities to fight them off. A year later, it was discovered that Alec Greenway had been meeting with him in secret, and when confronted Alec admitted that the man was his brother.
