Die essayistische Methode ist eine experimentelle Art, sich dem Gegenstand der Überlegungen zu nähern und ihn aus verschiedenen Perspektiven zu betrachten. Das Wichtigste ist jedoch nicht der Gegenstand der Überlegungen, sondern das Entwickeln der Gedanken vor den Augen des Lesers. Das Thema des Essays soll von Anfang an ganz klar ersichtlich sein, es begleitet den Leser wie ein roter Faden ungekünstelt durch den ganzen Text. Jeder neue Begriff wird eingeführt und vorgestellt. Handlungen werden chronologisch erzählt und Zitate deutlich als solche gekennzeichnet. Auch ist der Umfang eines Essays eher knapp, das macht ihn übersichtlich und gut verständlich.
