- Benyan was a male Bajoran artist and husband to Cerin Mika. He, along with his wife, were religious radicals and joined the Cult of the Pah-wraiths led by Gul Skrain Dukat. They were among the cultists who followed Dukat to Empok Nor. Benyan and Mika were the first couple to be "blessed" by Dukat with permission to have children and began trying to conceive. These efforts however, were undone when Dukat raped and impregnated Mika with a daughter he and Mika named Cerin.

- Benyan was a male Bajoran painter in the 24th century. He married Mika. Benyan was a follower of a Cult of the Pah-wraiths in 2375. During that year, He and his wife left to live on Empok Nor as followers of Dukat. Benyan was very devoted to the faith, and started a portrait of Dukat with his followers. Like the other followers, he followed a covenant between the believers and Dukat, including a vow of abstinence. He and his wife asked Dukat for a child and he agreed. Dukat prayed with both of them, and Mika had a child. Benyan assumed it was his, but it was actually Dukat's child.

Nachdem seine Frau ein Baby bekommen hat, ist Benyan zuerst sehr froh, doch als sich dann herausstellt, dass es sich um ein halb cardassianisches Kind handelt, ist er geschockt. Zwar stellt Dukat es als ein Wunder der Pah-Geister hin, doch richtig glauben will er ihm nicht. Um sich abzulenken widmet er sich gleich nach der Geburt des Kindes wieder seiner Arbeit. Durch den angeblichen Unfall seiner Frau kommt Benyan nicht dazu sie nach der Wahrheit zu fragen. Während der Zeit auf Empok Nor malt Benyan ein Bild, das Dukat und einige seiner Anhänger zeigt. Nachdem Mika das halb cardassianische Baby bekommt, fragt Kira provokant, ob er nicht auch ein halb cardassianisches Kind in das Bild einfügen wolle. Als Dukat die Bajoraner später zum Selbstmord aufruft, will sich auch Benyan umbringen. Doch Kira gelingt es Dukats Plan zu durchkreuzen und seinen Betrug zu entlarven. Daraufhin erkennt Benyan die Wahrheit und weiß, dass das Baby in Wirklichkeit das Kind von Dukat ist. Gemeinsam mit den anderen Bajoranern verjagt er Dukat. Nachdem Dukat von Empok Nor flieht, werden Benyan und seine Frau mit den anderen Bajoranern von der USS Defiant abgeholt und nach Bajor gebracht. Colonel Kira Nerys was brought to the station and tried to point out the mistaken beliefs to him, but he was not convinced. Further, he stated he didn't need her to believe, and was a little confused as to why Dukat needed her to be. However, Mika shortly gave birth to a half-Cardassian child. Dukat immediately proclaimed that the child was transformed by the Pah-wraiths into a symbol of his covenant with his followers, but Mika of course knew the truth. Benyan wanted to believe, but he was skeptical. After Mika and Dukat met in secret to talk about what happened, Dukat tried to kill her rather than let the truth be known. When Kira and Fala saved her life, Benyan met her in the infirmary and stayed with her. He learned of Dukat's vision with the Pah-wraiths and attended the ceremony in which they would all kill themselves, however, Kira interrupted and exposed Dukat. Benyan finally turned on Dukat and believed he was the father. After the cult's dissolution, Benyan, Mika and the child left with Kira on the USS Defiant. (DS9: "Covenant") Benyan was played by Jason Adams. According to the script , Benyan was pronounced as "BEN-yen". Additionally, he was described as "an intense young man in his late twenties.".

Though he was initially reluctant, he began to see the baby girl as his more than Dukat's and was outraged Dukat tried to kill Mika and nearly tricked him into poisoning baby Cerin with promazine. This led the cult to disband and leave for Bajor. (DS9 episode: "Covenant") One year later, Benyan had accepted his role as Cerin's adopted father and cared for her along with Mika.
