Ratling duelist is a type of monster in ADOM. They are very nasty opponents for PCs that depend on fighting with weapons, as they can disarm their opponents and their attacks always penetrate armor. Due to their speed, they are usually able to disarm and wound the PC in the same turn, which can create a frustrating cycle of pain as long as the PC keeps re-equipping weapons. Ratling duelists can easily be dealt with using special attacks like magic or mindcraft; though PCs that have advanced enough skill levels with their weapon might manage to hold onto it in a fight with a duelist, or just kill them before they can attack.

Monster Memory
| - This choleric ratling is always ready to throw down the gauntlet. His bright red combat suit protects him tolerably well and offers almost no handhold to his opponents. If your movements aren't swift enough, he can easily disarm you, so you'd better hang on to your weapon or train yourself in alternative fighting techniques. Be warned that the ratling duelist observes a strict code of honor. To save you face, you'll have to show it. If not, only blood can remove your shame.

Description
| - Ratling duelist is a type of monster in ADOM. When slain, a ratling duelist will always drop a pair of gauntlets. Another notable behavior of the duelists is that even if the PC should find a non-hostile duelist, chatting with the duelist will cause him/her to challenge the PC to a duel — meaning he will turn hostile. The PC must be prepared for this.
