- Usually attributed to muscle, atrophy is a shrinking in size of an organ, tissue, or body part, usually following a period of disuse or immobility. Can also be due to disease or injury.
- User can cause their internal organs and extremities to rapidly waste away to nothing. This may be used as mode of survival by either eliminating a limb that has been bound in some way, or conserving energy.
- Atrophy is a level 70 crafted legendary Wand for the Wizard in Diablo III. Its level 60 equivalent is Ruinstoke. Unlike the latter, it does not award bonus damage against elites.
- Atrophy is a “Community-Oriented” guild. We are not obsessed with power or status, but rather we are focused on helping each other to grow as a community. We are a democratic community, where everyone has a voice.

- One or more parts of the mutant's body become shrivelled and atrophied. As a result, the mutant loses the use of part of its body. Roll a D6 to determine how many parts atrophy. Reduce I by -5 and T by -½ per area affected. Roll the appropriate number of D6 to determine which areas are affected:
- Atrophy is the medical term for the loss of mass from any discrete part of the anatomy. It is a normal consequence of many conditions (such as muscle atrophy in a person with paralysis), but can often be a symptom of an underlying condition (such as the atrophy of the testicles which occurs when a man abuses testosterone to encourage muscle growth. Atrophy describes an actual decrease and should not be used to describe a situation where something is merely smaller than normal, such as hypogonadism.
- Atrophy was introduced to Puzzle Pirates by Sloshbuckler in early 2005. She started as the pirate Atrocious (as befitting both a pirate's demeanor and odor) on the Midnight Ocean. At first a cautious pirate, and unused to online games, she still was lured by Sloshbuckler's tall tales of the high seas, and subscribed within a few weeks. Around this time, the Cobalt Ocean was opened. Atrocious left Midnight for this new world, and joined Sweet Pillage and Mayhem (SPAM), where she can still be found to this day.
- Atrophy was a wasting or decrease in size of a body organ or tissue because of disease or lack of use. In 2268, Dr. Leonard McCoy claimed that the mental faculties of Sigma Draconis VI residents seemed to be almost atrophied because of non-use, explaining Kara's simple mental functions. (TOS: "Spock's Brain" ) In 2372, after Tom Paris had broken the warp 10 barrier and began to mutate, some of his internal organs atrophied and were absorbed into his body. (VOY: "Threshold")
