The Committee on Experimental Charms is a division made of some of the best charms workers in the Ministry. They are often the forgotten member of the MLE but they are one of the most important and influential people behind the department. The researchers both experiment, create and find new uses for charms and try to meet the current requirements of the other departments. It's a dangerous job and as such they are given high priority medical cover. A small department, but they are trained and willing to do what is necessary to make the jobs easier of the other departments as well as ensuring the safety of the charms currently in use.

| - The Committee on Experimental Charms is a committee within the Ministry of Magic founded by Balfour Blane who lived in the late 1500s to early 1600s. Gilbert Wimple was a member in the early 1990s (although it is not known how long he worked there). The function of the Committee is to oversee the use and development of experimental charms. In 1992, the Committee had to deal with some extremely odd ferrets found in the possession of Mortlake. The Committee once made a study on the percentage of wizards and witches that believed that Atmospheric Charms should be regulated due to their effect upon the environment.
