De commandant van een brigade is een brigadegeneraal, ook wel brigadier genoemd (niet te verwarren met de rang van brigadier bij de Nederlandse politie). Die rang is in het Nederlandse leger pas na Tweede Wereldoorlog ingevoerd. Brigades stonden voorheen onder bevel van een kolonel.

- The Brigade (旅団, ryodan) is a Mercenary Organization situated in the Land of Water. Stemming back to times before the establishment of the Five Great Shinobi Nations, the Brigade was comprised of several conjoined clans seeking fight for hire. Unable to go against clans like the Senju Clan and Uchiha Clan, the Brigade dispersed after the war between the two clans. Resurfacing after the establishment of the Five Great Shinobi Nations and shortly before the First Great Shinobi World War, the Brigade has become quite powerful in the ninja world.
