| - West End is the popular name of the western part of the Noble City neighborhood of Long Road, south of New Town. It is often seen as a different neighborhood, but is in fact almost uninhabited. It's the most agrarian part of Noble City and is very green and rather hilly. The eastern part of Long Road doesn't have a particular name. It is known for its Mediterranean lifestyle, including pétanque and olive tree orchards.
- The West End of London was where Bill Savage led the Mad Dogs after breaking through the Gant's Hill Checkpoint. They went to Trafalgar Square in order to make a public announcement of the existence of The Resistance to Volgan occupation. It was an area with many department stores. After the invasion they were restricted for Volgan use only. Savage stole some clothes to disguise his men so that they would be picked up as civilians the following morning.

- West End was originally a frontier mining town. The Exeter Iron mine was an imperial project that began when chunks of Iron were found at the base of a small crescent shaped mine at the far western edge of Dimhold. Initial smelting showed the ore to be of good quality, and a delegation led by Sir Gregory Grimwar began immediately. There are 20 moorings available for visiting vessels and there is a mandatory mooring fee of $10 per day, $40 a week, and $100 for a month. This money is reinvested into the maintenance of these moorings, as well as funding community projects. Since the introduction of the mandatory fee in April 2010, we have received very few complaints about the cost or the state of the moorings. The mooring lines are inspected each week during busy season by a host vessel who is responsible for ensuring visiting vessels pay and are informed about the rules and regulations. Sir Gregory spent the better part of a year building a keep inside of the crescent of the mountain, and a boom town formed around it to provide needs to the miners. Parts of the forest to the west were cleared and a small farming community was set up. After initial clearing of rock began, and the first loads of ore were brought in, they found a problem. A vein of Cobalt had intermingled with the iron, creating an alloy. Current mining techniques did not allow for the smelting of this metal, named "blue iron" or "wolf iron". Dimhold officially abandoned the mine, but as this area had been granted to Sir Gregory Grimwar, he was allowed to remain in his keep and charged with ownership of the land of the crescent mountain. Sir Gregory, now advancing in years, decided to stay at Crescent mountain and make the most of his land and his people. He was well liked by the citizens who remained behind after most of the Innkeepers, prostitutes, tool sellers and other dark elements of a boom town abandoned West End Five years ago a process was devised by a local alchemist for smelting and using wolf iron. The process was long and intensive, but got rid of the need for importing expensive iron ore. The smiths that had remained in West End now had more work than they could handle. Each smith refit his shop to be able to work with wolf iron, building hotter forges and more precise tools. About this time, the trade caravans from Dimhold stopped coming. A party was put together to pay a visit to the next town over, Landover. The party never returned. Three months later another party was put together and sent out. When they reached Landover they found it in ruins. Corpses lined the streets and fields. Most of these corpses belonged to the former residents of Landover, but many were different. These corpses all had blonde hair, which happened in the citizens of Dimhold one child out of five hundred. These foreigners had a dark tan to their skin, and were slightly shorter than the people of West End. They bore strange symbols on their gear, a yellow sun on a field of blue and red stripes. This symbol had never been encountered before, but all of the foreign corpses wore the remnants of well crafted and matching armor. Believing the place cursed, the party from West End returned with their sad news. Landover was Dubbed by the aging Sir Gregory as off limits, and it is rarely mentioned. Production of Wolf Iron increased, and new uses for it started to spring up. Just four years ago, two delegations arrived in West End. The first was a band of the legendary Elves(WE) of the old kingdom. They were concerned about the deforestation of what they called the "old wood" to the west. This band of Elves(WE) was a nomadic tribe, and their entire tribe was not far from town. When the Elves(WE) learned of West End's new state of Isolation, they decided to help. The Elves(WE) moved into the town to stay. Fifty Elves(WE) came originally, and a few trickled in after that, leaving a good population of Elves(WE) to intermix with the Humans(WE) and Dwarves(WE) of West End. Finally a year ago several families who had settled as far south of the crescent mountain as they dared moved back to West End. They told tales of "dark figures" who had raided their farms, raped, robbed and murdered. No one reported harming or killing any of these people, who they called "darklings". Five Years after Wolf Iron was discovered, a party consisting of William Dreadbane, Benjamin Haight, Tavian Aidman, Anghoroth Aidman and Sage returned with word that another town had been found, called Redkeep. A pact was made to join the populations of these two towns in West End, which was more defensable. While the Company of the Red Spear was lost, Redkeep's inhabitants fled Redkeep to take up residence in West end. A great wall was built of Blood iron to keep back the hordes from the town. Two and Three stories have been added to most houses. Being a landlord has become as profitable as farming or smithing. The smiths are working long days and sometimes nights to provide suitable weapons and armor for the newly trained militia. Conditions are crowded and crime is on the rise, but lawbreakers are harshly dealt with by Sir Amelio Rensin. While many still die in the frequent raids by the dark armies, life goes on as normally as it can. Redkeep has become a ruin, and scouts who manage to return from there report it a ruin filled with darkness and evil. A second Daystone was found in the mine of West End and put into place atop the keep. The Daystone of Redkeep was made into a weapon to keep back the forces of darkness.

There is one mooring for larger vessels which consists of an 8ft screw and a 1,500lb concrete block. All vessels must register at the Marine Park office in Half Moon Bay in West End. for more information please visist our webpage (30/08/11) New moorings - There are now a total of 13 moorings in West End. Beau Soleil reports no scope and they broke one loose with west winds 10/08 West end is the "happening place" for everything tourist and dining/party related here on Roatan. There are countless resorts, hotels, restaurants, trinket traps and so much more here. Be ready to enter a 1960's Key West style atmosphere. The road along the beachfront is sand and everything is right there. The cruiser who has been in isolation will find him/herself going into overload mode in no time. Yes it is a fun place to be and there is plenty to keep ones self occupied but hear this warning: When a norther is forecast to come through, dive your mooring to make sure it is safe or simply move to the south side of the island. There isn't enough room to drag very far and reports of boats on moorings dragging in the 20 to 30 knots a norther produce are common place. Some of the moorings are heavy concrete weights and then some are just sand screw type anchors and do not hold well in a blow. More later on....add more if you like! West End is one of my favorite beaches on Roatan. But it does have problems. In the height of the season most of the free park moorings are taken. Fear not. There are other moorings if you care to dive around to find them on the sea bottom. The park, the whole area is a marine park, authorities demand that you take a free mooring or anchor in a sand patch. This is to protect the eel grass plus because your boat will be very close to the reef, keeps you from draging and hitting the reef. Don't even think of spear fishing. You are encouraged on arrival to visit the park office. No worries. There is no charge. However, take a look at the hundreds of seized spear guns decorating the walls. Don't spear fish. As always in the third world it is best to avoid imperial entanglements. (Sorry, Star Wars fans.) There is a $10 donation to be made at the office if you intend to go diving in park waters. Ask to have the little turtle thing that you can hang on you first stage as a trophy to show off as you voyage to other countries. Ashore there are all the trappings of a tourist island. Enjoy. If you want to shop in Coxen Hole or check into the country there, grab a share taxi van, locally called a collectivo. It was 18 lempiras each way (less than a dollar) in 2008. The entrance is shallow, 10', and after entering deeper water can be found closer to shore. Enjoy West End. We did! Beau Soleil
