The blue-hat miner likes to work on Volcano Island, and moves in after you raise the island off of the ocean floor. He lives in the house south of Pierre's house on Verdure Island. On sunny days, he'll be in the mine entrance until 10am, and then he takes a late-morning break at the Diner before going back home at noon. Then he'll return to the mine at 3pm. On a rainy day, he spends the mornings in his house instead of in the mine. Slater goes to the mine at 2pm instead of at 3pm on rainy days, but in any weather he's back home for the day at 7pm.
