Shinobu Yaguchi (矢口史靖 Yaguchi Shinobu) is a Japanese director, editor, cinematographer and screenwriter. To date he has written all the screenplays for the films he directs and vice versa. He won Best Screenplay at the Japanese Academy Awards in 2005 for his film Swing Girls. Earlier in his career he was known for writing and directing films in which the main protagonists discovered large sums of cash and found themselves stuck in various sticky situations because of it. Recently, however, he has branched out and worked on a wider variety of material while still sticking to his understated comedy roots.

His film Waterboys was particularly successful and led to a TV series which entered its third season in 2005. He was awarded Best Screenplay at the 2005 Yokohama Film Festival for his film Swing Girls.
