The band has stated that the album features a new direction in their music, combining the rap rock sounds of their debut album, Hybrid Theory (2000) and the electronic mixes of A Thousand Suns, whilst keeping a brand new, original sound. On April 16th, the albums first single "Burn it Down" was released, and the second single, "Lost in the Echo ", was released on October 19th 2012. The album was released in the US on June 26, 2012. On June 16, Living Things leaked onto the internet.
