Yulgash, the Master Summoner is a unique boss monster in ADOM. He carries the Chaos Orb of Elemental Air, which the PC needs in order to complete the game. As his title implies, the Master Summoner's main mode of attack is summoning random monsters. These magical powers may do anything from spawn a few kobolds, to surrounding the PC with molochs. Yulgash is less of a threat in melee combat; whilst his melee attack has a quite high maximum damage potential, the large variation in his min and max damage potentials means that it is rare for him to do significant damage to PCs at this point in the game. Being the guardian of the Air Temple, Yulgash also possesses immunity to shock attacks. He is also immune to stunning and poison.

Corpse
  • As a being of true evil, eating Yulgash's corpse corrupts . In v. 1.2.0 eating his corpse also yields increases of 4 points to Learning, Willpower and Mana. These attribute changes are not capped by potential, nor do they depend on your attribute's current value. Rather than eat the corpse, non-chaotic PCs that can preserve it long enough to take it to Guth'Alak can exchange the corpse with him for a potion of cure corruption.

Monster Memory
  • In this world, there are two kinds of powerful mages: the good archmages and the bad chaos mages. Unfortunately Yulgash belongs to the latter. His face has been twisted by anger unknown to you, his hands are crippled but full of magic. His face is wrinkled yet full of power, his robes torn yet chaotic and terrible. He eyes you steadily, thinking about who you are, but whomever you are he does not care; he made the armies of chaos for the domination, and he would not hesitate to make more of them in order to destroy you!

Being the guardian of the Air Temple, Yulgash also possesses immunity to shock attacks. He is also immune to stunning and poison. Since Yulgash is able to surround the PC with nasty monsters if he stalls too long, one way of fighting him is to just enter the center room of the temple and start attacking him as quickly as possible. Due to his low defensive stats he is usually the easiest of the Orb Guardians to defeat in melee combat. Alternative plan, is wake him up and run back to the right side of level. Due to differences in monster behaviour, it's rather likely that most of his summons will be left in Air temple, while Master Summoner will follow PC. This way PC can typically skip fighting most of the summons. In some versions Yulgash is able to teleport on the Air Temple level despite it being a no-teleport area. Due to potential abuse , this feature was removed .
