However, some weeks Joan will not have red turnips, and the player will be unable to buy them. Red turnips start as seedlings that must be placed in the ground like saplings. Over time they will grow, but only if watered every single day. If the player misses a day, the turnips will rot, and will not sell for very much money at all. However, in City Folk, if the player misses a day, they can water the wilted turnip with a silver watering can, which can bring red turnips back to life. Unlike other things in the ground, the player can't move a red turnip the traditional way. Instead, to remove the red turnip, they have to dig it out with a shovel. A full-size red turnip sells for a maximum of 16,000 Bells, making a profit of 15,000. Tom Nook will buy the different size Red Turnips for the following prices: The player can continue watering red turnips beyond seven days, but they won't get any additional growth or profit out of them.
