Their starships utilized a gravity induction drive to create a subspace tunnel, allowing them to travel great distances almost instantaneously. Their transporter and tractor beam technology was known to be superior to that of the Star Empire and the Federation. From the 2340s onwards the Unity clashed several times with the Romulan Star Empire. In 2343, they were defeated by the Star Empire in the Battle of Chi'tan, which saw the Star Empire strike at their capital. From the late-2340s to the mid-2370s, the Unity launched no less than five offensives against the Star Empire. (Ship Recognition Manual, Volume 5: Starships of the Romulan Star Empire)
