  • Kaminari was bored in the middle of class, which was becoming more and more frequent for her. She was Rank #2 within the Lotus Taijutsu Academy, and not many people wanted to spar with her, as it often meant losing. It was a sunny day in fall, lovely weather really. A storm would be more lovely in her opinion, but not many people would agree with her on that. She was lost in her thoughts as the teacher started speaking, but the woman's tone soon drew her attention "I am proud to announce that the Lindwurm Festa is fast approaching, and that the two students who will compete for our school have been chosen!" Whispers went around the gathered crowd. The arena in and of itself was rather large, and a single class was in the actual fighting area, whilst the others had been gathered in the stands. When had they gotten there? Kaminari could not recall, if she was being completely honest. Maybe they had been there the entire time...She shook away the thought and looked back at the talking teacher "Quite, now! I am about to announce the school's participants!" The woman spoke in vain however. The entire school was gathered to hear the news, so a low clamor was as quiet as it was going to be. "Who is it gonna be?" They whispered "My bet's on Rank 5! He's really strong and would be a definite winner for us!" Kaminari heard some girls speaking near her. Everyone was throwing in their guesses and hopes, but she just sat back and listened "QUIET!" The instructor seemed to channel a bit of chakra to her throat in order to make her voice project over the crowd, silencing them "Thank you! The first participant in the Lindwurm Festa is..." She turned to Kaminari herself, pointing with a large smile on her face "Kaminari Arashiyama, Rank #2 of the First Page!" The crowd was silent for a moment before they all broke into shouts and cheers and applause "Wow! Number Two! We're definitely going to win!" They said "No one can beat her in a spar, imagine a real tournament fight!" Kaminari gave a small sigh and stood up, walking over to stand next to the instructor "And our second participant in the Lindwurm Festa is...Rakurai Waka!" She called out loudly, looking around for the male in the crowd. Everyone looked around also, waiting for him to come down and stand next to the other two. Rakurai was sitting under the shade of a tree near his classroom, staring at the countless teachers looking for him. "What is it this time?" he wondered, couldn't they see he didn't care about their meaningless lessons. All he needed was his shinobi skills and nothing else, Rakurai still didn't understand why they taught them subjects outside of the shinobi curriculum. While he was in deep thought he felt something tapping his shoulder he then looked up. It was one of the teachers who were looking for him "Did you really think you could dodge class and plus besides the reason we were looking for you was..." Rakurai then jumped up to one of the trees branches and leapt onto the class's roof. The teacher then realised he was trying to make run for it however he did not seem worried at all almost like he planned this. While Rakurai tried to make a run one of the teachers caught him after he thought that he had escaped and let his guard down. They then personally escorted Rakurai to the arena. Once they arrived the students setted down and there was only silence. Out of the silence one student said "You better not try to avoid the Festas like you do during lesson time!" "What are you taking about again...?" Rakurai said in a bored manner, obviously not interested. "Like I was trying to say earlier before you ran off, you've been entered in the Festas." Rakurai then began to walk away "Where do you think you're going" the teacher said in a strict tone. "Not interested.." Rakurai said while walking away, passing the other two students and the teachers. Sounds off booing then began to erupt within the arena however Rakurai began whistling while walking away with no care in the in the world. Kaminari raised an eyebrow at the actions of the male. She gave a sigh before crouching, holding the position for a moment as her leg muscles coiled, and then pushed off of the ground. She flew over the heads of several students gracefully, and she felt the eyes of all in the arena on her, not that she cared much. She twisted her body and angled herself as she fell masterfully and feather-light in front of Rakurai. She placed a firm hand on his chest to stop his movement and gave him a bored look "I can understand your disinterest in the Festas." She said, talking to him, but loud enough for everyone to hear "The large crowd, putting on a spectacle. I don't like it either, trust me." She gave a little huff and drew her hand back, crossing her arms under her bust and cocking a hip out to the side "But I don't like backing down from challenges, and I don't like losing. This Festa, all of the Festas, are challenges. You not participating? That's backing out. You're also the second best in the school, so they'll need to saddle me with some weak shmuck that will raise our chances of losing. That right there? The two things I don't like." Her eyes narrowed a bit as she thought quickly "But...I'll tell you what. We'll fight. If you win, you don't have to participate in the Festa. If I win, you do. Plain and simple." She looked to one of the teachers "And this can also be a sort of...placement exam. The Ace of Lotus has yet to be decided, ne? The winner takes the Rank One spot, whether Blondie here wins or not." She had forgotten his name already, though the nickname was easy enough to come up with. She looked at him expectantly "Deal?" Rakurai then thought for a moment, thinking of what he should do next. He then looked at the girl feeling if he didn't do something she would attack anyway. "This is a drag you know...even if you don't want to admit it I'm the best this school has to offer. So it's completely useless trying to persuade me" Rakurai said in an arrogant tone. Just then his classroom teacher appeared next to him and whispered "If you win this match we'll never bother you about our 'useless subjects' ever again. Deal?" Rakurai was stunned by the sudden preposition but none the less delighted at the fact if he wins he doesn't have to go to the Festas and he doesn't ever need to attend anything which does not include shinobi topics. He then appeared at the wall where the crowd sat. "Fine then guys if I lose I'll attend the Festas but if I win not only do I not need to go to the Festas she'll have to give me a kiss right?" he said mockingly. "The nerve of that..." his class teacher mumbled. Rakurai was milking this opportunity as much as could but he knew that he was taking a big gamble. Kaminari watched as the teachers cleared the arena. She was a bit miffed at the male's words, but she didn't let her anger get the best of her "If you win, I'll even be your girlfriend for a week." She unfolded her arms and let them rest at her side "But don't worry...you won't win." The arena was clear now, and Kaminari could let loose. She dashed forwards on her skates, accelerating quickly forwards. Once she came within thirty feet of Rakurai, however, she would stumble and fall forward clumsily. Before she hit the ground though, her hands planted on the floor as she went into a handstand. Her legs split and she began to spin rapidly in a circle, her skirt whirling about and concealing her undergarments from view. As she spun, blazing red clouds took shape above her and began launching themselves at Rakurai, aiming to impact him. Should one hit him, he would feel the burn of the flames and the moisture evaporating from his skin. The cloud-missiles would also detonate upon touching him, sending him crashing back into the wall. If he had the good sense to move out of the way of the first few clouds, he would find that the next few Kaminari launched would follow him, the girl purposely aiming to take him out within the first few moments of the fight. "Do you really think a weak attack like that can take out the likes of me?" Rakurai arrogantly said while dodging the first attack. "Is that all you got..." he mocked but soon realised that the others were following him. He continued to dodge the attacks but it was no use he could not evade them. He then quickly thought up a plan while in midair he raised his right fist above his body and launched him self downwards. He looked as if he was a drill of some sort when he started spinning while plummeting to the ground. When he made contact with the ground it caused chunks of rock to be launched into the air along with a cloud of dust. The array of rocks acted a defensive of sorts as they stopped the projectiles in mid flight while the dust cloud created a cover so no one could see what was happening. The crowd then began to feel uneasy as they realised Rakurai might actually win this battle. "Please don't lose Kaminari you're our last hope!" one of the students said desperately. The ground under the young woman burst open revealing an upward kick from Rakurai. "That sneaky..." the his classroom teacher said shocked at the sudden attack. "This is the end...!" Rakurai said as he prepared for his "final" hit. Once the male had drilled into the ground, the girl hand stopped her spinning and leapt upright, her eyes scanning the battlefield. He was no longer in the sky or on the ground and with the momentum he had built up in that drill motion...She launched into the air the moment he had broke free of the ground, a smile on her face "Cheap trick..." She spun in the air and a mass of bubbles were created around her. She began spinning faster and faster, the bubbles converging around her, performing a protective barrier against any attacks that may be launched at her whilst she was "vulnerable". She then halted her spinning suddenly, kicking down towards where Rakurai was positioned in the air below her. The kick may have seemed useless and not very well placed due to the good 15ft of air between them, but the bubbles all of a sudden turned into a massive wave of water that rushed head-first towards the blonde, threatening to wash him away along with the massive wave "Take this, Blondie..." She thought vehemently. Rakurai looked at the massive wall of water "Wait...I cannot block that!" he said in a terrified tone, realising that he might be forced to actually compete in the Festas. "I guess I'm to take this battle seriously then. I'll admit you're strong but..." However he was interrupted by the massive wave of water which had made contact with him. This created a gigantic explosion of water. "I guess it's over then..." the teacher said but suddenly pillar of steam appeared on the field. The pillar seemed to be radiating a flames of fire which resembled petals from a cherry blossom. "Bet you didn't see this coming heh?" Rakurai said weakly, barely standing with one eyelid closed and the other barely open. I better not let her perform any more of those techniques otherwise i'm a gonna but still as long as he was using Blossom-Style: Molecular Mayhem he'd be fine but still... Rakurai then got up and dusted himself "No one messes with my gear and gets away with it got?" The pillar then concentrate onto the back of his right palm. He then thrust his right hand forward and charged towards the young woman, shouting out "Blossom-Style: Continuous Collision" He was getting serious, huh? She could do the same. In fact...she could surpass him by leaps and bounds. Kaminari's eyes pulsed with glowing orange energy, glaring directly into the approaching male's soul, it would seem. The sky above darkened and something terrible happened. A hurricane manifested as if from nowhere, the formerly sunny sky being eclipsed by the darkness of the raging storm. As the male approached, Kaminari would send out a simple kick, though a massive tornado would emerge from her leg and slam directly into the male's chest in order to send him flying backwards away from her. The storm around the girl seemed to converge into a harrowing visage: a woman with the lower body of a serpent and snakes for hair appearing directly behind Kaminari. The woman let out a snarl at him that sounded like pure thunder, the banging of Raijin's own drum. When Kaminari spoke, her voice echoed as if she was the storm herself "If you won't hold back, neither will I. Gone be your innocence. Fear the wrath of the Goddess of the Storm!" As she spoke, a bow manifested in the hands of the Gorgon. The woman drew it back as an arrow of powerful storm clouds formed. She loosed and the arrow split into a thousand, and those thousand into ten each until there was ten thousand arrows of explosive storm clouds raining in on Rakurai's position "Begone..." "This is bad but I'm not gonna give on trying to make you give up!!!" Rakurai shouted as he got up and continued to push forward with all his might. He could not lose this battle going to the Festas was one thing but losing his title as the school's best Taijutsu user. As he pushed forward he saw what must have been over a thousand arrows. But did not get discouraged by the odds being against him. When he within rage he focused the energy into a more concentrated state causing him to go into full thrust. This caused the ground around him to break off and float into the air. While running towards her he quickly pulled out a kunai with an explosive tag linked to it to try and put some distance between him and the arrows. However he knew that doing something like may cause a massive explosion to appear and wipe them both out but he had to take the chance. "Here comes the BOOM!" Rakurai said finally reaching his opponent in a matter of moments just inches away from her face. "How did he?!" one of teacher said stunned. "Not really a surprise after all he is IS the best Taijutsu user in the school." His movements were slow. Not only because her natural perception picked up high-speed movement slower than it actually was, but because of the energy flowing to her eyes and making the movement even slower. It was the main reason no one could beat her in a fight: she could see where they were going to be before they did. As such, she saw him running and had enough time to formulate a plan. Her legs were wreathed in frigid storm clouds as the male appeared next to her, a smirk on her face "Best my ass. You're far too slow to be the best." She lashed out with another kick, aimed directly at the boy's chest in order to send him rocketing away from her. The tornado that extended from this kick was below freezing and Rakurai would begin to feel the effects of hypothermia setting in rather quickly. As he flew, Kaminari would appear next to him, faster than he had moved. Much faster "If you're the best, why are you number three? You're nothing compared to a Goddess." She slammed another kick into his back, sending him towards the hands of the Gorgon, which were outstretched in such a way that she could simply slam her hands together and crush the boy like an insect. "Ughh...when did she...?" Rakurai said stunned at the sudden turn of events. After he was the best in the school said in thought he then looked at the beast standing behind him. "You know no one has ever pushed me this far...and another thing how could you even see me moving, up until now no one has been able track me or even catch me. You might be faster but..." Suddenly a large pillar of what seemed to be flaming petals formed around him. He smirked and said "...that's not the reason I'm the best. The real reason is because no one can touch me while using this technique without going to intensive care." He then looked at the Gorgan behind him and thought. I'll need to take down that thing first because from the way things look it was probably the source of her sudden boost. He then turned around, looked at the beast and spat in it's face. "See you in the next life pal..." Rakurai said in a sympathetic tone suddenly an explosion burst from the beast's forehead. Presumably ending its life but Rakurai knew better then to lower his guard. So he stayed vigilant of the creature. Kaminari examined the pillar of petals as her Gorgon's face reformed. She laughed as she came to a conclusion "You think she's alive? Don't be silly! That is a construction of my own power. She can't die, and as long as I fuel it she'll keep reforming." The Gorgon raised her hand and several missiles of frigid nimbus shot out, aimed to impact the male and blow him away. She looked around the arena and could see the fear in the eyes of the students looking on. She new she was powerful, but the looks brought a smile to her face all the same "And as for that technique...it is formed of Yin Chakra. Unfortunately for you, the energy I am using surpasses chakra in strength. Therefore." Her entire body was wreathed in a layer of storm clouds as she pierced through the pillar, appearing directly before Rakurai "I can touch you, where others cannot." She slammed a foot into his chest and sent him crashing towards the Gorgon, the layer of storms imbued with Nen serving to protect her from any damage the technique might do. "...?!" Rakurai's eyes widened, having no time to counter the attack and was sent back flying towards a wall, dispersing his technique. I can't understand this I'm out of her league and...yet she beat me. He could barely feel his hand and he might also have a few broken ribs. "Looks like you lost." his teacher said rather pleased with himself "The winner Kaminari!" The crowd was silent for brief moment until the entire stadium echoed with cheers. One of Rakurai's companions helped him get up and walked him to the school nurse. While on their way there he thought about the strange girl he had met She's so...I can't even describe it...I know I'm suppose to be scared but... There's something about her that makes me... His friend then asked him what was the matter, snapping him out of his daydream. He then told his friend what was bothering him,"Looks like someone's in LOVE" his friend said teasingly. Uggh...some help he was but what if he was... "Oh boy this is the last thing I need..." he said deep in thought first there's the those idiotic Festas...and the second was that he had developed a crush on a girl that just might murder him for asking her out. Just great... Kaminari watched him for a long moment, just floating in the air. Not by the power of her Nen, but simply her training with manipulating her weight in order to suspend herself in the sky without using any chakra. She watched him until she was declared the winner and gave a triumphant smile. The Gorgon faded and so did the clouds surrounding her form. She fluttered gently to the ground and landed feather-light. People were clapping and cheering as the boy was lead away "Congratulations!" She heard the voice of her sensei speaking from behind her. She turned and saw the woman bore a large smile upon her face "You got won, got him participating in the Festa and claimed the spot of the school's Ace!" Kaminari smiled at the woman before looking at where the boy had been led away. He had been cocky, but that was the best work out she'd had in a long while. She had been forced to use more than just a bit of her Nen, so that was an accomplishment on his part "I just hope he gives his all in the Festa...I really do hate losing." She said quietly as she rode away from the adoring crowd in order to find a nice secluded place to take a nap. She was a bit tired from all that exertion. Rest would do her good.
