The 1970 Polish protests (Polish: Grudzień 1970) occurred in northern Poland, especially in the cities of Gdańsk, Gdynia, Elbląg, Szczecin, during December 14th–19th, 1970. The demonstrations were sparked by the latest massive increases in the prices of basic foodstuffs, censorship, police brutality, general repression and the now hopelessly ruined the miss-managed economy had become since the late 1960s!
