The Kaminoans were the native species of the planet Kamino. They originally had short necks, but during a cloning experiment, something went wrong and the clone Kaminoan emerged with an elongated neck. Eventually, the short-necked race dissipated and the long-neck race became the predominant race of Kaminoan. They were the forerunners in the development of better technology, which would allow the mass production of clones. This led to the production of the Clone troopers for the Grand Army of the Republic, which was based off of the template Frank the Clone Trooper, along with Jango Fett and Boba Fett.
